Off –road araçları arazi koşullarında yani doğanın zorlu engellerinde yol almak için hazırlanmış özel araçlardır. Modifiye denilen yöntemle artı özellikler kazandırılan araçlardır. Off road araçların modifiye işleri özen ve bilgi gerektiren işlerdir. Hataların da yapılacağı bu işlemlerin gerçekten konunun uzmanı kişilerce yapılması şarttır. Ustalar konu hakkında ve yaptıkları işlemle ilgili olarak şu bilgileri veriyorlar:
Yanlış Modifiye İşlemleri
Standart olarak üretilen 4×4 arazi araçları hem asfalt yol hem de arazi yol koşullarında sürüş özellikleri taşıyarak üretilmektedir. Bu özellikler %50 oranıyla yarı yarıyadır. Ustalar normal arazi araçlarını modifiye ederek yani değişimler uygulayarak, tamamen arazi koşullarında kullanılmak üzere özelleştiriyorlar. Eğer usta bu konuda gerekli teknik bilgiye ve donanıma sahip değilse yapılan off –road modifiye işi başarısız oluyor. Bu konuda deneyimsiz araç sahiplerinin dikkat etmesi gerek en önemli ayrıntı, aracın güzel görünmesi değil, fiziki yeterlilik kazanacak hale gelmesidir. Aksi takdirde kişi, arazide rahatlıkla yol alamayan, sorun çıkaran ama güzel görünen bir araca sahip olacaktır. Bu durum tehlikelere de yol açabilecektir.
